A substrain PVG/cBkl, which is C6 complement deficient due, presumably, to a spontaneous mutation has been described. In good environmental conditions it is perfectly healthy (Leenaerts et al, 1994).

生物学特征：大鼠繁殖快。肠道较短，盲肠较大，但盲肠功能不发达。性情较凶猛、抗病力强。无胆囊。不能呕吐。不耐饥饿，肠内能合成维生素C。双子宫。胸部和鼠蹊部各有三对乳头。胰腺十分分散，位于胃和十二指肠弯曲处。

寿命与疾病：寿命3～4年。

研究应用：生物医学研究。

饲养与繁殖：大鼠2月龄时性成熟，性周期4天左右，妊娠期20（19～22），哺乳期21天，每天产仔平均8只，为全年、多发情性动物。?
