Special Test Animal Resource Platform
The Special Laboratory Animal Resource Platform is affiliated to the Northern Center for Institute of Laboratory Animal Resources. It is mainly engaged in the conservation and breeding of special laboratory animals, such as ferrets, marmots, baboons, green monkeys and other experimental animals, as well as resource supply and other services.
The Northern Center for Institute of Laboratory Animal Resources is established. Chronic diseases, based on alzheimer's, Parkinson's disease, diabetes, obesity and so on, has become the main disease with serious impact on human health. The big animals and non-human primate life are longer and closer to humans. The study of chronic diseases are increasingly using large animals and non-human primates as a model. The main tasks of the center are as follows: first, to strengthen the construction of laboratory animal resources with disease characteristics, and to provide laboratory animals such as rhesus monkeys, crab-feeding monkeys, marmosets and other non-human primates, as well as laboratory animal resources such as groundhogs, ferrets, SPF rabbits, woolly mice and Bama mini-pigs for medical research in China. The second is to develop non-human primate disease models of chronic diseases, improve the ability of animal models of chronic diseases, and provide a feeding and analysis platform for long-term follow-up research of chronic diseases. Third, it provides a feeding and analysis platform for long-term follow-up study of chronic disease models.
The center is located in Changxindian, Fengtai District, Beijing, covering an area of more than 80 mu. It has about 15,000 square meters of animal feeding facilities, veterinary room, quarantine room, anatomy room, operating room and level 2 laboratory of laboratory animal. The center will strengthen the construction of rare laboratory animal resources and improve the analytical capability of animal models of chronic diseases.
The center has a total 28 staff, including 1 researcher, 3 doctoral candidates, 1 master candidate, as well as a group of laboratory animal practitioners and logistics personnel with rich experience in the conservation and breeding of laboratory animals. In recent years, the center has made great progress, providing high quality laboratory animals to domestic universities and research institutes, and cooperating with many research institutes to undertake a large number of animal experiments and apply for scientific research projects. Around the social development and market demand at home and abroad, in view of the present and future life science development needs, center will continue to strengthen the construction of the laboratory animal breed resources formed with germplasm characteristics and advantage of laboratory animal resource base, share resources and techniques of experimental animals, contribute to human health and life science development.
