PLoS Pathogens: Long-Term Control of Powerful HIV Fusion Inhibitors for Viral Replication in AIDS Macaques
2019-12-25 08:29:47In February 2019,He Yuxian team, Institute of Pathogen Biology, Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences, and Qinchuan team, the Institute of Laboratory Animal Sciences of the Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences published online in the journal PloS Pathogens. They found that by a single low dose (3 mg/kg) of LP - 80 treatment, HIV/AIDS in rhesus monkeys viral load quickly fell to testing lines, and two times a week monotherapy can suppress the virus for a long time (6 months). Lp-80 is the most effective HIV fusion inhibitor and is expected to be applied in clinical practice. The original title of the article is “Monotherapy with a low-dose lipopeptide HIV fusion inhibitor maintains long-term viral suppression in rhesus macaques.
